who will win the championship?

Famous quotes from ayrton senna-

1. “Fear is exciting for me.” ~ Ayrton Senna 2. “I felt as though I was driving in a tunnel. The whole circuit became a tunnel... I had reached such a high level of concentration that it was as if the car and I had become one. Together we were at the maximum. I was giving the car everything - and vice versa.” ~ Ayrton Senna 3. “Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose.” ~ Ayrton Senna 4. “It's going to be a season with lots of accidents, and I'll risk saying that we'll be lucky if something really serious doesn't happen.” ~ Ayrton Senna 5. “The day it arrives, it will arrive. It could be today or 50 years later. The only sure thing is that it will arrive.” ~ Ayrton Senna sponsored by-historyoff1.blogspot.com

Brazzlian GP-Closer Look

The Brazilian Grand Prix (Portuguese: Grande Prêmio do Brasil) is a Formula One championship race which occurs at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace in Interlagos, a district in the city of São Paulo, Brazil.

A Brazilian Grand Prix was first held at Interlagos in 1972, although it was not part of the Formula One World Championship. The following year, however, the race was first included in the official calendar. In 1978 the Brazilian Grand Prix moved to Jacarepaguá in Rio de Janeiro, briefly returning to Interlagos for the next two seasons before becoming the sole host from 1981 onwards. In 1990 the Grand Prix returned to Interlagos, where it has stayed since. In 2005, for the first time, the Brazilian GP decided the World Championship, won by Fernando Alonso. On October 22, 2006, Felipe Massa became the last home winner of the Brazilian GP.

While its 68 years old facilities are subpar compared to most circuits on the calendar, the Interlagos circuit has created some of the most exciting and memorable races in recent Formula One history, and is regarded as one of the most challenging and exciting circuits on the F1 calendar. Along with Spa-Francorchamps, it is rare in that the circuit in its modern form is one of the few with a lengthy history in the sport not considered to have lost much of its mystique or challenge in its adaptation for the modern, much more safety-conscious era of 21st century Formula One.

Particularly memorable recent Brazilian Grands Prix include the 2003 race, which saw a maiden Grand Prix victory, highly unexpectedly, and amidst chaotic and unusual circumstances, for Jordan's Giancarlo Fisichella. Heavy rain before and during the race produced problems with tyre selection which caught out many teams, which allowed the weak Minardi team to have a real chance for victory the only time ever, because they were the only team who prepared to the rainfall, but their drivers were also soon out. And treacherous track conditions caused multiple drivers to spin out of the race, including then-reigning World Champion Michael Schumacher, ending a remarkable run of race finishes dating back to the German Grand Prix 2001. Amidst this, a number of drivers, including McLaren's Kimi Räikkönen and David Coulthard, led the race, and, when a heavy accident involving Renault's Fernando Alonso blocked the circuit and brought out the red flag, confusion reigned. Fisichella led the race at the time, having just overtaken Räikkönen; however, it was the Finn who was declared the race winner under the count back rule, which stipulates that the race result in such circumstances is taken from the running order two laps prior to the race being stopped. This decision was overturned days later in the FIA Court of Appeal in Paris after new evidence came to light which proved that Fisichella had crossed the finish line in the lead for a second time before Alonso's accident, and therefore was the rightful winner.

The 2001 Grand Prix was notable for marking the explosive arrival of Juan Pablo Montoya onto the Formula One scene. The Colombian driver stunningly muscled his way past Michael Schumacher early on and led easily until an incident in which Arrows' Jos Verstappen ran into the back of his Williams-BMW and ended his race. Montoya did eventually lay to rest the ghost of this event by winning the 2004 race in his final Grand Prix for Williams before moving to McLaren, holding off his future team-mate Kimi Räikkönen to take a hard-fought victory.

Fernando Alonso became the youngest ever Formula One World Champion at the 2005 Brazilian Grand Prix, his third place behind winner Juan Pablo Montoya and championship rival Kimi Räikkönen enough to clinch the title with two races remaining.

For 2006 the Brazilian Grand Prix, as in 2004, was moved to the prestigious position of hosting the final round of the season, in what was Michael Schumacher's farewell to Formula One. Starting from 10th position on the grid, Schumacher did an astonishing job on his last race. He fell to 19th position on the ninth lap due to a flat tyre caused by a minor collision with Giancarlo Fisichella when the former was trying to overturn the latter. After pitting for a new tyre he returned to the race, just in front of leader Massa, so almost being overlapped, passing several drivers to take the chequered flag in fourth place, after a dazzling passing manoeuvre on Kimi Räikkönen. His performance was not enough to give 'Schumi' his eighth trophy, as Fernando Alonso, who needed only one point to become World Champion again, finished in second place. Brazilian Felipe Massa took pole position and led the race from start to finish for the second victory of his career and celebrations from his Brazilian supporters.

In March 2008, the mayor of São Paulo announced that he had signed a new deal with Bernie Ecclestone to continue the holding of the Brazilian Grand Prix. This deal allows the Brazilian race to be on the calendar until 2015. With this, Interlagos is set for major improvements in its pit and paddock facilities.

The 2008 Grand Prix will be the fourth consecutive world championship decider, this time between Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa. In the last three years, Fernando Alonso (twice) and Kimi Raikkonen won the WDC at Interlagos.

McLaren & Lewis Hamilton Lose the Appeal against the Belgian Row

McLaren's appeal against Lewis Hamilton's 25-second penalty at the Belgian Grand Prix has been rejected.

Hamilton strongly pressed his case at Monday's appeal to the FIA in Paris as he aimed to overturn his punishment for cutting a chicane at Spa.

The 23-year-old was demoted into third, with Felipe Massa handed the victory.

The five judges ruled that the appeal was inadmissible and so Hamilton's four-point deduction stands, leaving him one point clear in the title race.

If successful, Hamilton would have seen his lead increase over Ferrari's Massa to seven points.

However, has the appeal been heard it is possible the penalty against Hamilton could have increased.

"Article 152 of the International Sporting Code states that drive-through penalties are 'not susceptible to appeal'," the FIA said in a statement.

"Having heard the explanations of the parties, the court has concluded that the appeal is inadmissible."

And after Tuesday's verdict, Hamilton said: "People will probably expect me to be depressed about today's result, but that isn't me.

"All I want to do now is put this matter behind me and get on with what we drivers do best: racing each other.

"We're racers, we're naturally competitive and we love to overtake. Overtaking is difficult, and it feels great when you manage to pull off a great passing manoeuvre.

"If it pleases the spectators and TV viewers, it's better still. So I'm disappointed, yes, but not depressed."

Martin Whitmarsh, McLaren's chief operating officer, added: "We are naturally disappointed with today's verdict, and to have received no ruling on the substance of our appeal.

"No-one wants to win Grands Prix in court; but we felt that Lewis had won the Belgian Grand Prix, on track, in an exciting and impressive manner.

"Our legal team and witnesses calmly explained this, as well as our belief that the appeal should be admissible, to the FIA International Court of Appeal.

"It nonetheless decided that our appeal was inadmissible. We will now concentrate on the remaining four races of the 2008 Formula 1 season."

The appeal court judges were faced with two decisions.

They first had to consider whether McLaren's appeal was admissible, as Formula One rules do not allow teams to appeal against drive-through penalties.

The penalty given to Hamilton was technically a drive-through penalty.

However, as it was issued retrospectively McLaren barrister Mark Philips QC had argued that no actual drive-through took place, so the appeal should be considered.

Secondly, the judges had to decide if Hamilton sufficiently surrendered the advantage he had gained when cutting the chicane.

The Englishman was battling with Massa's team-mate Kimi Raikkonen at the Spa circuit when he cut the Bus Stop chicane, resulting in him overtaking the Finnish driver.

Despite allowing Raikkonen to immediately reclaim the lead, Hamilton then overtook the Ferrari driver at the next corner to go back in front.

As video footage of the incident was shown, Hamilton told the court he was trying to avoid crashing into Raikkonen.

"We had a great battle and there was no need to take stupid risks, so I had to cut the chicane," he said.

"I've since studied the footage about 10 times and I can remember it vividly like it was yesterday.

"I believe I then gave the advantage back. I honestly, hand on heart, feel I did so."

Whitmarsh told reporters he believed the judges were "confident of our facts" following the hearing.

"Based on the evidence we saw at the time, and from subsequent analysis, we believe any advantage was ceded," he added.

"Therefore it's even more reason to get those points back."

Hamilton has since left France for Singapore ahead of Sunday's first ever night race.

Why Hamilton,Kimi,Massa,kubica-struggled?..while Vettel,heikki,webber..zoomed past

The Saturdays Qualifying seesiopn which took place at Monza-For the Italian gp,was an session which boasted of complete drama and suspense!! Frontenders like-Lewis Hamilton,Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa were seen constantly struggling for grip as the rain marred the whole session.

Lewis Hamilton would be the only driver who struggled the most as his McLAren-Mercedes which is mostly seen topping the timing sheets was found down the timing sheets struggling to bring the car out of relegation zone during the Q2 session, and so was kimi raikonen.

The reason for it isn't the wrong tyre choice, but the set-up of the car.As was found during the session,Heikki kovalaienen the team mate of championship contender Lewis Hamilton was found constantly in top 5 during all the 3 sessions but that wasn't the case with Lewis,Kimi's teammate Massa too was performing better than him.

The top teams actually gambled with their set-up for some of their drivers, while Heikki dared to set his car for completely wet conditions, lewis reckoned that it would be semi wet and semi dry and set his car for the same ..and so did Kimi Raikkonen..and luckily massa had his set up more better than Kimi's which favored the wet conditions.

2008 Italian Gp-Monza -Qualifying session Results

Sebastian Vettel the toro rosso driver took an brilliant pole position in the italian gp-Monza,both the toro rosso were sensational in the rain through out the session and one of the fastest drivers on the grid,Vettel put up an brilliant show of his rain driving skill's in the Q3(3rd qualifying session) and his toro rosso wasn't far behind in supporting him...working flawlessly in the rain.Heikkii Kovalaienen was another great performer during the session...ending the first session (Q1) topping the timing sheets and finally concluding the session by finishing on P2,Mark webber struggled in the first qualifying session but did an awesome job finshing the Q3 session on 3rd position, reiging world champion Kimi Raikkonen and championship contender Lewis Hamilton would like to forget the qualifying session as an bad dream as they werent able to finish any of the 3 sessions on an high note and even after trying multiple times Lewis could only do best as 1.39.265 during the Q2 which caused him to be relegated out of the Q3 session also Kimi Raikkonen had similar fate and ended up one position ahead of hamilton,Massa too couldnt do anything great but however just saved himself from being relegated for Q3 when he finally clocked 1.36.676 but finally was able to lift his performance and finshed the Q3 at 6th position.

The Qualifying session looked really great for the mid fielders but was an nigtmare for the frontenders or the top teams like Ferrari,McLaren and BMW.
