who will win the championship?

Famous quotes from ayrton senna-

I had reached such a high level of concentration that it was as if the car and I had become one. Together we were at the maximum. I was giving the car everything - and vice versa.” ~ Ayrton Senna 3. “Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose.” ~ Ayrton Senna 4. “It's going to be a season with lots of accidents, and I'll risk saying that we'll be lucky if something really serious doesn't happen.” ~ Ayrton Senna 5. “The day it arrives, it will arrive. It could be today or 50 years later. The only sure thing is that it will arrive.” ~ Ayrton Senna sponsored by-historyoff1.blogspot.com

The above is the image i got on the net of the 2009 f1 car.If you ask my opinion i would say flatly it is 10times ill looking as compared to the F1 cars of 2008!!....even the wings on nose of BMW sauber,McLaren and others were acceptable but this looks flat boring! It more of an looks like an 2003 F1 car.The doube front wings of the 2008 f1 cars looked really good i think. Post you comments too about it. (Post Your Views)

Alonso Not Surprised By Ferrari extending Raikkonen's contract till 2010

Fernando Alonso says he is not ruling out joining the Ferrari team in the future after the Italian squad confirmed both their drivers for 2010.

The two-time champion had been linked with a Ferrari seat for some time, with Kimi Raikkonen delaying an announcement about his plans after the 2009 season.

But the Finn extended his contract with Ferrari until the 2010 season, closing the door to Alonso at least until 2011.

Alonso said he was not too surprised by Ferrari's announcement.

"No, because there was talk that it would be like that, so in a way I knew that they would renew his contract," Alonso told Cadena Ser radio.

"And once you know it, you have to think of 2009. I was not too worried about 2010. The most important thing is too see what is the best place to be in 2009."

The Spaniard is yet to announce his plans for 2009, with Renault, BMW and Honda hoping to secure his services.

The Renault driver insisted the French squad are his first choice, but he made it clear his future could be at Ferrari if the chance comes up.

"As I always say, Renault is my first option because I know the people and I know things can be done right here, even though this year things haven't gone well," he added. "And if not, we'll see what we can do.

"I'm 27 now and life changes a lot and if I race in Formula One for another eight or ten years I might get the chance again to end up there (at Ferrari)."

The Spanish driver said he has not seen much of Renault's car for 2009, and he admitted he has to be cautious when judging the team's optimism for next season.

"I haven't seen much, because we are focused on the remaining races, but I'm sure it inspires confidence because at this point of the year every team is nearly completely sure that next year they will do well," he said. "They are all very optimistic and it's up to you to believe them or not.

"Normally I believe them, because they've given me a lot of joy and two cars to win titles with, so it's easier to believe them than others."

Alonso is currently in seventh place in the championship and is yet to climb onto the podium in 2008

FIA Press Conference-Belgium-4sept

This is an Extract of the press conference held on 4th sept 2008 at belgium, drivers who were present in the conference include-Kimi Raikkonen,Nick Heidfeld,Kazuki Nakajima and Sebestain Vettel,The answers given by the drivers are quite good and the questions asked by the reporters are also entertaining...making me post it on my blog-

Q: (Heikki Kulta - Turun Sanomat) Kimi, you have a variety of weather here; what would you prefer for this weekend?
KR:
Either it's dry or raining all the time. It's much easier for everybody. When it gets between those two weathers you have more luck involved. It's more if you get it right or wrong when it starts raining and it gets drier, so hopefully it's… for me, anything is good but maybe dry would nice.

Q: (Juha Päätalo - Financial Times Deutschland) Kimi, last year you had similar problems in qualifying but you were able to solve that. How much can the work of last year help you to find a solution because it hasn't yet been that way. Is the car very different from last year on that point?
KR:
No, but we haven't solved the issues yet. We had similar issues last year at some point of the season. We were pretty OK at the beginning of this season and then it seems to have turned a bit worse. Hopefully we will get back to where we were earlier on but we will see now if we have made improvements or not, then we will go from there.

Q: (Mike Doodson) This is a question for all four of you about pit stops. David Coulthard recently said that he thought the racing would be more interesting if there were no pit stops. He thinks that pit stops distort the results of the races. We've also had incidents with fires in Hungary and a mechanic who was hurt in Valencia. I'm interested to know if you drivers would be interested or would like to see the end of pit stops, which, incidentally, came in 15 years ago.
NH:
Well, hopefully we will see more overtaking next year with the new regulations but until we've had a couple of races we don't know. And as we all know, overtaking is so difficult that I think it would be a good idea to keep the pit stops to at least see some (overtaking).
KR: We see now most of the overtaking taking place at the pit stops, so without them, we probably will be running behind each other more, nothing really happening. Sometimes people get hurt in the pit stops unfortunately but that's part of racing, so it hasn't been too bad.
SV: I think when we are about to retire, we are looking for more interesting races as well because we will be in a position to watch the races. Honestly, in the car the races are pretty interesting and you are pretty busy. As Nick said, next year there should be more overtaking, so hopefully that by the time we are retiring the racing is more interesting.
KN: In my opinion it's better to keep the pit stops because at the moment that's the thing which makes the difference between other drivers, so we have a bit of choice for strategy. Sometimes it makes the racing more interesting.

Q: (Thierry Wilmotte - Le Soir) Kimi, everybody knows that team orders are not allowed, but can you imagine that at the end of the season you can decide on your own to help Felipe to fight for the title?
KR:
It can happen. It all depends on how the next races go and where we are at the end of the year but we race as a team. We will see. Hopefully we don't end up in this situation, hopefully I will be in the championship up to the last race. But you never know what happens.

Q: To all of you: what is on your i-Pod?
KN:
Any kind of music but most of it is Japanese pop. Since I came to Europe, I especially tend to listen more to Japanese songs, maybe to remind me of home.
SV: Any kind really, German folk songs are my favourite. Anything really, a bit of everything.
KR: Mostly Finnish music, all sorts. You wouldn't know, so it doesn't matter what I say.
NH: Yeah, similar to the others, a lot of different stuff, not a lot of classic stuff. No German folk music, more in the direction of R&B, hip-hop, not so much techno, more chill-out but various stuff.
SV: Why don't you like folk songs?
NH: Why do you like it, that's more difficult to answer, I think?
SV: I like the lyrics.
NH: I like the smile on the singers' faces, just like yours.

Q: Is Eau Rouge your favourite corner, and if so why?
NH:
Ah, that's pretty easy to answer for me. It's not my favourite corner. In the past it was very exciting but nowadays with V8s and so much grip, it is not a big challenge any more.
KR: Yeah, from a driving point of view, at least, it's not really a corner. It's more straight for us. In the wet it's quite exciting but as Nick said, before it was much more challenging and the cars are better and we don't go so fast, so it's not a big deal any more.
SV: I still think it's a very nice corner and everybody would miss it if it wasn't part of the calendar but it's true, it's not that challenging, at least in dry conditions. I crashed here in wet conditions and it's more challenging definitely.
KN: For me it was good in GP2 but I will probably find it's going to be easier to go flat-out (in F1), so maybe less fun.

Q: If you were not an F1 driver, what would you be doing?
KN:
That's a very difficult question. I have no idea but I think I would probably be doing something related to racing because that's the only thing that I'm interested in, even not as a driver, maybe doing something in racing.
SV: If I wouldn't have made it, I think I would look for the best possible education to get in the highest position to tell the drivers that made it in motorsport how they should do it the right way.
KR: It would probably be something to do with motorsport. It's always been part of my life, so I wouldn't think it would be much different in some other category or motocross or something like that.
NH: Yeah, pretty similar, actually. I enjoy sports a lot and most likely with an engine involved, probably motorbikes would have been interesting, rallying or whatever, just competing, travelling the world and doing sport.

Q: (Mike Doodson) So which is your favourite corner?
NH:
My favourite corner is the Esses at Suzuka which have not been there (on the calendar this year), so I'm looking forward to next year.
KR: I don't really know. There are a lot of nice corners, so it's hard to pick one.
SV: Yeah, I would say there are too many. Probably the one in Montreal when you go to the personal parking, the right hander is quite nice! No, there are so many corners. I enjoy all of the tracks, so I like a lot of corners.
KN: Yeah, I agree with Nick, I think the Esses or the first and second corners at Suzuka would be nice, which I've never done in an F1 car but I'm sure it will be good.

Telefonica European GP-Valencia,Spain-Race Review

Last Sunday we had the European GP again(which have been in the f-1 calendar since Schumacher was an rookie and kimi, alonso were school going boys),but it was not on the historic Nurburgring but on an newly opened circuit named 'Valencia Street circuit' situated somewhere in Spain.

Well talking about firstly the circuit which is created in the midst of the city using obviously the city road(or streets!!) and designed by Herman Tike(of istanbul, sakhir, shanghai fame),Though the circuit is quite wide but its an very difficult circuit and where overtaking is next to impossible, the only way being slipstreaming and slingshot, but thanks to the aerodynamics the 2008 f-1 cars use the car slipstreaming the one at front may more difficulty in overtaking than gettting any help.

Lap1-The race started off quite well and brilliant start by massa who promptly kept his well earned pole and converted it into lead as the five red lights went off, though his team mate Kimi Raikkonen had not so good start with the Mclaren of Heikki Kovalaienen over taking himin the start itself, after which kimi just couldnt find a way past Heikki, the first corner saw couple of spins as the train of cars entered it as the race begun with David Coulthard with Rubens Barichello spinning out of the track...but sustaining no damage to the car.Kazuki Nakajima spoiled not only his but alos fernando alonso's race when he shunted the renault 's back causing the rear wing of renault to give away and also causing rear right suspension damage in the renault and prematurly ending the spaniard's race,Nakajima's Williams though only sustained an front wing damage and he joined back after changing the nose of the car.

lap 2-37-
The rest of the race saw no major changes and everything was going in the same flow, except Sebastien Bourdais breaking a part of his front wing with the help of BMW's Nick Heidfeld

Massa came into the pits in lap 37 and so did adrian sutil, its not that sutil was fighting for the lead that am mentioning him but because he was the reason for Massa becoming $10000 poorer at the end of the weekend, the reason is in lap 37 after Sutil had his stop he was crawling down the pit lane but as he came near the ferrari pit garage suddenly an scarlet car emergedand it was none other than massa's f2008 which came wheel to wheel with him, adrian being at no fault didnt back off(as expected by massa and massa had to back off to prevent his Ferrari from banging wheels with Sutil's Force india or the Pit wall!!!,

lap 38-Chequered Flag

Lap 42 saw Adrian Sutil kissing the left side tyre wall at turn 2 in his force india and hence breaking the front wing of his VJM01 in the due process.Lap 45/46 saw kimi raikkonen's pit stop which caused an pit crew member(refueller) beimg hit by the rear wing of the Ferrari and the crew member being stretchered off to the hospital,In lap 48 later Kimi's Ferrari F2008's engine blew up while on the start finish straight, the Final Lap saw Massa Winning the Race Hamilton being 5sec(approx) behind and BMW sauber's Robert Kubica scoring his first podium after Canada by finishing 3rd.

Why/How does the wheel cover on f1 cars dont spin??

,wheels,
So you guys been wondering why doesnt the wheel caps in those ferraris,BMW's and Mclaren's donot spin,i too was wondering for sometime, but then you know i dont like to wonder for a long time....and you too don like either so i wrote this post

The above image shows the total description of the stud or the bolt(slang) which keeps the axel and the wheel of an formula 1 car together, the part marked with yellow colour marker is the whole set which keeps the wheel attached with the axel, its also the same thing which is screwed out by the 'power spanner' used in the pits by the mechanics while changing tyres.

According to technical regulations in F-1 there must be no moving Aerodynamic parts in the car, keeping up with the regulations the wheel covers are attached to the 'Stud',since the stud doesnt rotate anything attached to it may too not rotate, hence the wheel cover/cap attached to stud is never found to be roating!!

Stud is not only found in f-1 cars but is almost in every road vehicle, but the difference is that in road vehicles the stud doest keep the wheel attached to the axel but there are (usually) 4-bolts which attach it,below is an image showing the stud in an normal road car and in f-1 cars-
